John M. ("Jack") Read IV was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from The Citadel in 1991 and from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1994. Mr. Read is admitted to practice law in both Georgia (1994) and South Carolina (1997). He also has been admitted to practice in federal courts in Georgia and South Carolina, as well as by the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
He served as an Assistant Solicitor for the Thirteenth Circuit (Greenville and Pickens County) for three years before returning to private practice. Since that time, Mr. Read has been an active member of both Association of Trial Lawyers of America, as well as the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association.
In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Read serves as the President of the Upstate Homeless Coalition, which emphasizes coordinating businesses to collaborate on projects assisting the homeless in the Upstate Region of South Carolina.
